Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons

Donna and I went to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in Wyoming for about a week at the end of August and the beginning of September for a 6-day vacation.

To get to Yellowstone, you fly to Denver, Colorado, change planes, and then fly to Cody, Wyoming.  We have a really good friend in Denver and we tried to get an overnight stay there so that we could really get to see him, but alas, no luck.  The best that we could do was get a 4 hour layover in the Denver airport, and make him drive an hour (each way) to see us.  Some friends we are.  Below are some pictures of our friend.

After leaving Denver (at 5,280 feet above sea level) we flew to Cody, Wyoming (at 5,095 feet above sea level).  I figure these were the low points of our trip (that's not an insult, that's a fact).  I think 90% of the entire vacation was spent more than 6,000 feet above sea level.

Chimney RockOn the way into Yellowstone, we passed 'Chimney Rock'.  You may not be able to see it clearly from this picture (I couldn't get far enough to the right), but the crack between these two rocks goes all the way to the top (i.e. they are not connected in any manner shape or form).

Some of the places that we saw in Yellowstone were:
